My name is David Pope
I’m a plant daddy through and through. My passion for horticulture started 11 years ago in Roseville, California, when I unknowingly moved into a home with a backyard full of grafted fruit trees from the previous owner. After my first year there, I discovered the orange tree produced three kinds of citrus, and the apple tree did the same with apples. When Covid hit in 2020, my love turned into an obsession, and I began a personal journey to embrace my inner plant daddy. Thanks to the University of YouTube, I learned how to graft trees and dove deep into the art of bonsai. This journey has shaped my belief that anyone can garden, and beautiful plants should be affordable for everyone.

Our Vision
Pope's Big Island Ornamentals is located in Hilo, Hawaii. Our plants are grown in our nursery we lovingly call the Cocobonga. All plants are grown in the Hawaiian sun and in rich volcanic soil assuring you a healthy and vibrant specimen. Our mission is to make beautiful plants affordable for everyone.
We believe the only thing that should be exclusive about rare plants is how rare they actually are-not how much money you have.
